Facebook as an example of what's going wrong:
pluralistic.net/2024/01/30/go-
A long read, but worth the effort.

"The internet isn't more important than the climate emergency, nor gender justice, racial justice, genocide, or inequality.

But the internet is the terrain we'll fight those fights on. Without a free, fair and open internet, the fight is lost before it's joined."

Just wondering if anyone out there in land has tried setting anything up with a and a noir camera to try and catch things in the sky?

Reason being, people are modifying expensive DSLR cameras with filters and using them to track things that only are visible in IR. Then you can compare that to open source aircraft tracking and visual sources to rule out aircraft with transponders, known satellite tracks, but also observe anything that falls outside of known speed or acceleration, duration capabilities.

How is it that a newsreader still has to ask an astronomer what the transit method is?

I'm a former Infantry officer and I'm sure this has been part of my general background knowledge and basic scientific literacy for well over a decade.

Did people stop listening and remembering at the start of this century?

Is that why everything is fucked now?

Wow, only true believers are left, about to start The Marvels on opening night and there's maybe a dozen in the giant ass reclining seats cinema

Never seen an opening night of anything comic book or star wars this empty ever

My big takeaway from the case, is how unsophisticated their fraud is.

They aren't anywhere close to the level of business acumen as say, a bikie gang in Australia is.

Another example of human civilisation having jumped the shark and being on track to end.

Can't figure out if my hair is at an annoying length, I'm extra irritable, I'm sick of incompetence, or frustrated watching society just collapse.

Or maybe it's all of them.

Slightly disturbing trend from the supposedly ecosystem developing.

They're now dividing republicans from types and the orange one.

The problem is that conservatives are on the same side, the difference is that the MAGA/hard right/reactionaries, whatever your label are just saying the quiet parts out loud.

I think there's a bunch of reasons and factors that I won't get in to.

The media want to let the polite racists and phobes off the hook so they can resume the status quo. That being two established neoliberal parties, one being a handbrake and the other occasionally throwing the proles a bone.

I remember polite old men in suits legislating hate decades ago, but they talked well and were called statesmen. They still entrenched hate and actively delayed any progress, the only difference is that they weren't overt about it.

We can not let conservatives off the hook, we need evolution and evidence based parliaments throughout the newscorp polluted world going forward.

Finished Starfield, haven't been sucked in to a game this much for a while.

The story was great, I really wish they let you fly your spaceship though.

Efficiency has gone up so it's 2 and a bit litres less per 100km now than my BRZ, but for that epic amount of boringness it feels like it should be more efficient

Day 1 of having a hire Yaris

Thinking of my poor BRZ hit by a negligent mum in the school drop off zone getting its new fender and side skirt.

Not ok with sitting so high off the road, having to install ridiculous software on to my phone to just be able to navigate, lane bullshit on by default, and only 2 pedals, either fully drive the car or let me do it without interference.

I'm driving it like a grandma, and weirdly getting less fuel efficiency than my BRZ that I've changed the whole intake and exhaust, and tuned, and drive like it is stolen. It's braking is better than my wife's car though, they're smooth, not grabby like hers.

I don't know how people deal with boring cars and shitty software when fun engaging cars exist with basic functional software that just works.

Life is too short for boring crap.

I blame people who chose iNonsense rather than Creative labs, Microsoft, or other drag and drop MP3 players back in the day. They made these horrible times we live in.

"""
That's not the worst part.

It's not the collapse.

It's not the death of our hopes and dreams. It's the fact that we're not allowed to grieve it and move on. Imagine trying to grieve the loss of a friend or a parent when half of everyone you know won't even admit they're dead. Imagine you're stuck in a real-life version of Weekend at Bernie's.

That's what we're doing.

OK Doomer · The World Has Already EndedIf you've ever seen the movie Soylent Green, you know it's not about cannibalism. It's about the banality of social collapse. It's not quick. It's a slow burn. Nobody shows any sense of urgency about anything. Everyone still watches talk shows, even if they have to pedal a bike to
