Part 2 of chapter 1 is out now! This covers even more detail of what your attributes contribute to, so when you DO go to make your character you understand why you are putting your points into certain attributes!
Social is a bit on the tail end, of the whole thing and something I need to come back to. I have more details available when I get more of the classes and abilities written out (since it was tested in 5e and needs to be converted over to AR).
Because the system is more granular than take 3 actions, you end up in situations that are similar to Pathfinder 2 (you take 3 actions), you also have other valves that help control the action economy so that people don't just sit there attacking all day. This is all designed with how I misunderstood 2e initiative, 28 years ago. I've carried this torch for almost 3 decades.
Also, instead of a critical hit being more damage, it instead triggers Minor Events if the opponent isn't bloodied. This can cause huge changes in a fight or provide advantages or boons.
There are flat defenses (Reflex, Fortitude, Willpower) but you can also turn those into a roll as an active defense which can translate getting hit into a critical miss even!
