I say this knowing dozens of people in journalism, but... Paywall Journalism is bad for humankind. Your story with the truth or with science that is locked behind a paywall won't be read. While the propaganda from other sites is free and spread-wide.
This is a hard to solve problem, because good journalism deserves to be paid for, but the average person won't pay for it in money (or even an account) Only fix I can think of is the NPR/PBS model.
@jadedfox Part of the problem also is some if us who'd like to support them can't afford to do so. Paying one site $5-$10 might not be that much, but we rarely get information from just one site.
@Zordrak That's why an NPR solution works, it's pay what you can, and others cover the slack.
