World Athletics is to introduce chromosome testing in female atheletes to determine the presence of a 'Y' chromosome.

The reason given by the bigoted Sebastian Coe is ' "We'll doggedly protect the female category and do whatever it takes to do it." '

This approach was dropped by the IOC in 1999 because it excluded some cis women.

@essjayjay If they feel it necessary to do sex tests, they should be done for every athlete, not just those presumed to be female. They need to see in real time the massive diversity and variety of chemicals and hormones and genetics that make up the human body across all. I bet some of the results would surprise them.

Yes, absolutely this - all or none.
But no, let's go with the misogynistic, patriarchal approach....
Coe is a twat.

@IsabelB @essjayjay He didn’t get the big head honcho job he wanted either. A woman from South Africa (iirc) got it. I’ve never liked Coe, as long as he’s been a high profile ambitious representative for sport. He always was misogynistic imo.

Which is exactly the reason that the IOC dropped this type of testing in 1999 and just tested testosterone levels.

If 'bone density' is such a huge factor in atheletes' perfomance, why hasn't there been any incidents of atheletes taking drugs that will increase their bone density? 😜 *

* Rhetorical question.
This is really all about institutionalised transphobia, misogyny and racism
