@hynek @ubernostrum I am not debating that ad-funded content can be more equitable, for certain flavours of equity. I **am** debating that those flavours comes at a cost that is often borne by the same kinds of people over and over again, which is really just #inequity with extra steps and costs quasi-externalized onto folks people don't care about as much.
Ads provide revenue at the cost of editorial decisions like not being able to have positive depictions of queer people, or not being able to discuss adult topics, or not criticising the marketers products, or not using swear words, or not condemning violent regimes because said countries buy the advertisers products, or...
