I've created a #Mastodon feature suggestion - to add a language filter to life feeds. It's going to receive a lot of objection, as it contains the word "Israel", so please, show support if you want this feature.
https://github.com/mastodon/mastodon/issues/32156
Full discolsure, I fully expect this to be rejected. I detailed [tooot.im] why in Hebrew. But trying never hurt.
and yes I'm aware the fediverse ain't mastodon, but this should be a feature everywhere.
(no one noticed my philosophy tube reference in the FR)
@laxla when you say filter feeds by language, do you mean the user's feed, or the ingress server to server activities ?
I think the user feeds already support removing languages that the users doesn't want.
@mariusor not a blacklist, a whitelist. Like, a temporary one.
@laxla that works as a white list. You can only see the languages that you checked.
@laxla oh, I understand now. I don't really use the "lists" feature, that's why I didn't get it. :D
I suspect you'd have more success with a feature request to create lists per *instance* than per language, which probably would serve you equally well.
@mariusor I'm not talking about lists though
@laxla then I'm lost... I'll stop bothering you. :D
@mariusor like, add an option, to choose a language for the federated feed.
@laxla I'm using the "simple" interface where all that noise doesn't exist... I switched now and I can finally understand (finally).
@laxla I suspect you could add some screenshots to your request... I doubt I'll be the only one not to understand. :P
