Today's is this gigantic Toshiba DVR19DTKB2 combination and recorder from I think 2009, which I picked up from the British Heart Foundation for £20.

I still need to test and make sure it's working fine, but the BHF shop here are pretty good for not selling faulty stuff.

Tested it out and it's working great! Both SCART and HDMI outputs are clean whether you're watching VHS or DVD. Only things I couldn't test were its recording capabilities, as I don't have blank media to record to.

Aside from that, the only issue I can see is that the DVD tray is struggling, but hopefully that just needs a little lube.
