Food

Deliveroo delivery guy thought it was a good idea to transport pizza vertically. It was like a crumpled bedsheets on the floor, but in a box...

difficult
difficult difficult
difficult difficult difficult, I'm difficult.

I grew up causing so much frustration for people around me who didn't know how to handle me. In turn I internalised their frustration which just demonstrated that I'm difficult. I learnt to try to appease others by not showing myself but just trying to do what they wanted me to - although badly.

I'm still trying to learn what I look like without the mask

I just wanna be fun with no problems on my mind.

minor injury, frustration, small mammal

So far this morning... I've broken a new 40mm fan because reverse polarity - who puts all black wires on a fan? My toothbrush was flat bc it didn't charge overnight, I can't drill a hole in the middle of a round bit of plastic and I managed to cut the side of my thumb somehow. And to top it all off, there appears to be a small rodent now living in a wall.

I purchased some new fans for my 3d printer to make it less noisy. The second set of fans turned up this morning, yay. The bolts that came with them aren't long enough though, and I've not got any longer ones. As I only need a couple of mm extra length, I guess I could file the plastic down a little or would that be too skank?

Gender differences in voice pitch

@meave Male and female norms for pitch are indeed *wildly* different by language. From my phonetics lecture notes:

(Male vs female average)
English: 107 Hz vs 195 Hz
Mandarin: 129 Hz vs 213 Hz
Shanghainese: 170 Hz vs 187 Hz
French: 145 Hz vs 226 Hz
Japanese: 150 Hz vs 340 Hz

Does make me wonder if English-speaking men are trying extra-hard to sound Not Female. And if Japanese women are trying to sound very, very young.

I needed a DC buck converter to take 24v and convert it to 12v. It needs to be small enough to fit near the hotend of a 3D printer... I'm slightly amused at how small this is, although a lack if mounting holes is irritating.

Infosec red team

Just stumbled across a nefarious red team plot to steal users credentials to critical services without them knowing. Had a minor panic that the company had been compromised and have just abt calmed myself back down. I am the first one to spot this, so I guess I am building a reputation now.

Food

Waaa, I was going to order a take out delivery, buuut a local event means lots of places are unavailable. Going to have to cook something instead.

The company I work for is listed on the UK's Best Workplaces 2022, which is kinda cool.

I've submitted my first commit to a product at work! For clarification, while I might be part of engineering, I'm not an engineer. So it's not something that I was expecting to do either.

Food

A couple of exciting ingredients turned up today!

Food

If I have anti-pasti and then eat a pasty, does it all cancel out? What happens inside me? Is it dangerous?

Things not to do at the end of a UK garden: dig. So far several sheets of rusty iron, a gas lamp arm, a metal shovel handle and a few other things I am not sure of.

that thread about DARVO

I said earlier that I'd talk about this, so.

It's important to know what DARVO is and how it's used as a tool to bully people into silence/complicity in bad behavior.

DARVO is an acronym. It stands for:

Deny
Attack
Reverse Victim and Offender.

It is a technique that is used by abusive people to cover up their abuse.

It is incredibly common. Knowing how to spot it is key.
