Since I've moved to a new instance I guess I should (finally) introduce myself!

I go by Vapour, I'm an Autistic NB AMAB :blobhaj_flag_aromantic: :flag_asexual: (still discovering so subject to change). I'm a programmer, tech enthusiast and budding FOSS contributor.

Anti gen-AI, crypto-sceptic, NFT hater.

I play games but at the minute that's mostly chill co-op games or trying to do giant stupid things in Minecraft (the stereotypes are real for me).

As the world economy buckles under the weight of one man's delusions, the rest of the nationalist world is waking up to the fact that Trump was never a friend, never an ally, never an example. Merely a wrecking ball looking for somewhere to swing.

For reasons entirely unrelated to *gestures at the world*, I'm finally going to _actually_ spend time learning more about cryptography than that one glance through stream-ciphers I did two years ago to figure out how to use them.

I've been trying to use Hetzner to finally move away from DigitalOcean to an EU provider and they keep rejecting my account.

Is it purely because I'm using an alias email address? I'm HESITANTLY giving my actual information to a service for once and it seemingly isn't enough. They also don't seem to tell you WHY they make these decisions.

Trying to learn Dutch as an English speaker feels so strange. My tongue has never had to make half of these shapes.

But I do find the sentence structure oddly makes a lot of sense.

Every day I wake up and repeat the mantra:

"I hate frontend. I hate React. I hate frontend. I hate React."

And every day I'm reminded why this is correct. Modern frontend frameworks are insane.

@vapourisation several apps do inject javascript into the in-app webview to continue the user tracking and data vacuuming. They would not be able to do that if they passed the URL to your default browser.

How do other nerds deal with wanting to learn and do _all of the things_?

How am I supposed to focus on learning hardware programming and firmware when there's game dev and cyber security and networking and signals processing and on and on?

I need infinite time and to never sleep ever again.

I'm getting tired of software developers berating normal people for buying everyday household items on Amazon, considering that 3/4 of its operating income comes from the cloud computing services it sells to software developers.
