I accidentally found a local supplier of open-source scientific hardware - automated optical microscope, bioreactor, colorimeter. Nice! https://labcrafter.co.uk/
I kind of wanna do some biology now...
Like, this one seems very useful to have at home
Oooh, they stock a soil sensor! When I was doing some gardening, I ended up buying one from China, and it was very poor quality, absolutely not open source, and definitely without monitoring capabilities. I didn't even know such a thing existed.
@nina_kali_nina They stock *two* soil sensors! I tried to put more than 2 in my basket :)
But you can have them; shipping is EUR 30, I'm out
@ctietze aw, that's a shame :( it's £2 for my address; must be the Brexit fun...
@nina_kali_nina if you're into soil moisture sensors, I know that the M5Stack community has a couple of sensors: https://shop.m5stack.com/products/earth-sensor-unit
I've also bookmarked the Home Assistant community's recommendations:

@ctietze oh, thank you, this is useful, I'll bookmark it too
@ctietze @nina_kali_nina We only got started in September, so still figuring out our stock levels So far the soil sensor hasn't been very popular, but if there's demand we can manufacture a larger batch next time!
We currently only have a DHL Express package option for shipping outside the UK - we could look into shipping smaller items like these by post if you want to get in touch?
@labcrafter @nina_kali_nina That's a lovely suggestion! If you can figure out how much that would cost, I'll check out technical things like how I could pair these with my Home Assistant!
@nina_kali_nina they're on here at @labcrafter and actively taking votes on what to prototype next! thank you for this accidental reminder to get back in touch with them :)
@nina_kali_nina and it's called b-parasite v1.2. It sounds like it was some nightmarish mecha or something.
@nina_kali_nina What? You can see the traces on the board, can't you? It's the ultimate physical schematic!
@indigoparadox @nina_kali_nina non-opensource Nina is talking about is the one on this picture, not the one she posted about
