I was vaguely looking at in 2024, but I just saw their nonexistent policy at fosdem.org/2024/practical/covi and will now steer clear.

You'd think that geeks would be all over the opportunities presented by CO2 monitoring into dashboards, home-made Corsi-Rosenthal boxes and wearing cool masks, but apparently not.

@diffrentcolours One asks oneself why one would go to events that don't care about the safety of the people who go there. Not that I was going to FOSDEM anyway.

@diffrentcolours That's a pity. 37C3 at least is giving out free masks and tests, and there is good uptake. There is CO2 monitoring, but mostly that just tells us that the ventilation is terrible.

Public

@jmacarthur Yeah, monitoring empowers people not to turn up, but without contingency plans from the organisers it's not all that helpful.

Public

@diffrentcolours Out of tech conferences only @pycon and @SoCraTes_UK have obligatory mask policies as far as I know

@diffrentcolours Thanks for the heads-up, makes the decision against it easy.
