I don’t like the vibe on Threads. Too much fake pop-culture corporate attention seeking. But in the long run, I think Threads will help Mastodon more than it’ll hurt it.
Mastodon could never be the new social hub on its own. If Threads’ ActivityPub support truly works as seamlessly as any other instance, we will all be able to coexist, and each platform can play to their strengths.
Mastodon can be Mastodon, for following who you want in a linear timeline; Threads can be whatever it wants to be. And we can all pick and choose.
