About my header: this September I had the chance to walk Anárašmáđđi (Inarinpolku), a hundred kilometre long (often faint) path through Sápmi from Sevettijärvi to Karlebotn. This view of Justinjohka comes about halfway through the walk.

Now rarely travelled, it was used by Inari Sámi to travel north for fishing trips, as well as for hunting and visiting relatives until the 1950s.

I love being outdoors and learning about the people and places around me.

It is autumn. A string of small lakes is visible, stretching off into the distance between hills. The sky is cloudy, but there seems to be some watery sunshine present. The foreground is filled with scrubby birch trees in various shades of autumnal yellow, but with some coruscating bright reds and yellows on smaller plants.
