Happy to announce that with github.com/NixOS/nixpkgs/pull/ merged, we now have the desktop environment available in .

Still need to add some more bits & pieces to bring over the entire environment and resolve some issues, so please don't expect it to be as feature-complete & well-integrated as the existing DE options, but I'm glad to already get it into this somewhat-usable state in time for NixOS 24.05.

My TODO list is long, my time limited, and my scheduling horrible. :blobcatcomfysweat:

@Puna nice work!

@Puna nice to see this!

I liked Ubuntu Touch the most of all desktop environments. It seems to me like a completed #GNOME.

Looking forward to try Lomiri.

Public

@Puna btw, how good support for fractional scaling is in Lomiri?

AFAIK, only #KDE and #Hyprland support fractional scaling correctly, yet.

Public

@kravemir The Mir compositor does not support the fractional scaling Wayland protocol, if that's what you're asking.

@Puna thanks for the link. Yes, this is what I've meant.

Fractional scaling is becoming quite an essential feature, as good laptops and monitors come with strange PPI nowadays.

I've just tried KDE Plasma 5.27.11 on NixOS unstable, and fractional scaling works flawlessly.

A bit weird though, that the link shows KWin of version 6.0.1 and up. Maybe, the fractional scaling support got backported?
