@FediPact I would like to be taken off this list for now. I've had a change of heart and have decided to not block threads immediately.
Thanks.

@sentient_water @FediPact I wonder if we're going to end up on the 52/48 cursed percentile?

Because that's definitely going to tell me something.

@FediPact
What the difference between blocked and limited?

Public

@arthunter @FediPact
"Limited" or "silenced" means the instance is muted, but users can still follow accounts on it, and it remains federated

Public

@ophiocephalic @arthunter @FediPact I think having threads limited is better. We have good and funny folks there whom we could follow while having others muted.

Public

@arthunter@mastodon.world @FediPact@tech.lgbt If a server is limited (aka "silenced" in older versions of Mastodon and other Fediverse software), posts from it do not appear in federated timelines. Users on the limited instance can only DM users who are following them or send follow requests. It effectively makes any communication with the limited instance require consent from local users.

Public

@arthunter @FediPact iirc, blocked = no interaction at all, limited = only people who follow each other may interact

Public

@FediPact only reason i havent is because no ones saying how.

Also arent they not even actually on activitypub (yet)?

Public

@xorowl @FediPact you need to be the admin of your instance. if you are, just websearch something like "how to defederate on mastodon".

also they have, i believe, added something called "one-way federation", meaning they basically get to spam the shit out of every instance that hasn't defederated them, but we can't do anything back.

Public

@tauon @FediPact yeah i know how to defederate, but i dont know the proper url endpoint to block.

Also i thought we had to block their entire ip address because they were going to ignore block lists and scrape anyway

Public

@xorowl @FediPact it's just threads.net

you could do that, i haven't heard anyone say that though

@FediPact @cadusilva That’s a good thing. I hesitate to block them from my instance. I am alone (with personal bots) and manually approve follows. Not sure it’ll change anything ?

Public

@FediPact it's the 59th most blocked instance! :3

Public

@FediPact I want to see the number of users that are on an instance that has it blocked/federated/etc, that would be more interesting

Public

@FediPact oh, right above in the thread

Public

@lunacb there's something like that if you follow the source link and scroll up 😁

🥥 @stux
As a participant of mstdn.social, I respectfully ask that you consider severing connections to Threads, if you haven't already done so. Thank YOU. 🥥

Public

@FediPact @jmhorner as per our chat earlier

Public

@FediPact

We can make a poll. I really like the diversity here! - Whats your opinion? - Should we block #threads ?

Public

@FediPact oh I so hope this goes through. Trying to get @endeavorance on board as he's the one running my instance. Screw meta and these big companies. They're why we ran from them to the fediverse. They wasted their time to fix this stuff for years and ran out of chances imo.

Public

@FediPact warms your heart to see it. Now let's get those numbers up even MORE 😂

Public

@FediPact how many users among those instances?

Quiet public

@FediPact@tech.lgbt

I'm doing my part!

Quiet public

@FediPact I bet the actual number's higher too. Most instances that are setup to be private enough for people not to be able to get this data from are likely to be blocking facebook too I reckon?
