I was just thinking: we already know about upcoming social+civil rights issues like transhumanism, non-human people, AI rights, right to embody any form in virtual space, etc. How do we use this foreknowledge to prepare for all this and stop the pushback before it starts?

These ideas haven't been criticized because they weren't possible before (unlike trans people). But as they become possible, things will heat up. The next social issue may be avatars or it may be plurality or something else after trans rights have been mostly established.

Plurality is something anyone can experience for any number of reasons, just like being trans or autistic. So unless we figure out a way to break the cycle of "I can't see it so it doesn't exist" or "that's not a big deal" it'll be transphobia/homophobia all over again.
