SQLite's Use Of Tcl (2017): I had no idea the database was originally written to be used as a TCL extension. Explains a lot of good things.

@somebitslinks I miss Tcl!
@somebitslinks I think they share some elements of philosophy. Both #Tcl and #SQLite aim to be simple at the core, yet expand to be very powerful. I love tools like that. Overall SQLite is underrated, considered just a little play thing or for simple tools. But you can power some major things with it. I believe Quora runs on it.
Of course Tcl is even more underrated. Fantastic language.
@Setok @somebitslinks AOLserver and OpenACS (both written in TCL) were a godsend in the early days of the Internet for content driven dynamic website production.
@sleepyfox @somebitslinks it was close that #Tcl would’ve become the Internet script language. It was the first script language in Mosaic (and the example in the HTML 4 spec is Tcl) and Netscape was considering it until they decided to create their own language and fashionably call it JavaScript.
@Setok @somebitslinks Well, I believe they were originally going to call it LiveScript, but that trademark was owned by Microsoft.
