Hiya. I'm Saqer (please use they, he is fine too). I'm an academic and a translator. Mostly translating scifi fiction and poetry (most of which I haven't published), but I toot about in my other masto spots.
I'm currently learning to use TEI-xml to transcribe manuscripts, and I'm currently horrified by XSLT.
I have been acquainted with the libre and opensource world for many years (I spent years translating apps on Launchpad back when Ubuntu was a big thing).

My learning problem still follow: I need very patient teachers who will hold my hand every step of the way and tell me to stop crying or cry with me while I learn it.
Ever since I started using #RoamResearch for my notes (I experimented with #Obsidian a little but settled for Roam) and following Roam-related accounts on birdsite I started getting the feeling that maybe I should learn #Clojure instead of any other language just because that lot constantly speak about Clojure.
I've been building a Facebook Events style event organizing system for the Fediverse. It's based on the simple, open source, privacy-respecting event organizing tool https://gath.io
The attached video is a work-in-progress preview and shows compatibility with Mastodon. My hope is to get it working with lots of software, including stuff like Friendica that supports events and calendars.

With Nokia re-releasing 90s/00s feature-phones with the help of KaiOS (an open source derivative Mozilla's failed FireFox OS), a group has risen to break through Google's 22 million dollar endorsement to Googlefy these phones and free them properly.
