I know the tech industry is in shambles right now, but I'm officially dipped into my long term savings and only have a couple of months before we start dealing with how to pay the mortgage.

I'm a senior software engineer, primary language is Python. I've done web dev, game dev, internal corporate tooling and data pipelines. Been in industry since 2014.

Things I've done you might know:

  • PursuedPyBear (ppb.dev)
  • Topps Star Wars Card Trader

Things you definitely haven't:

  • quoting and revenue tracking tools
  • Accounting systems
  • time cards
  • data analysis publishing tools
  • database query optimization in many flavors [MongoDB, Postgres, SQLServer, Athena/PrestoDB]
  • E-Commerce platforms

I'm pragmatic but opinionated on most things and my leadership philosophy is 100% letting people with the interest do the work, and improving code bases via code review, pairing, and regular refactoring.

If you've got a leads or a position, please send them my way.

Apologies if you answered in another thread; what kind of position are you looking for - senior dev, team lead, manager, something else? Full remote or a specific location? What salary range are you hoping for, if you're ok sharing?

Quiet public

@hwesta I actually haven't been asked yet!

  • Remote required (I just bought a house a few years ago and I'm in the high risk group for COVID.)
  • Titles I've considered applying to assuming everything else looks good: Senior engineer, staff engineer, business analyst, technical lead, team lead, curriculum developer. I'm extremely flexible on my title, I am mostly looking for that position that lets me be a generalist with a deep knowledge base that I can share with others.
  • Actually finally have my floor number for pay, which is 130k USD annually. Obviously, higher is better.

Great, I'll keep an eye out! I was going to suggest my company, but I don't think they can do salary, with the CAD->USD exchange rate

@hwesta Fair! If you want to DM me info I'm happy to look.
