tech.lgbt is one of the many independent Mastodon servers you can use to participate in the fediverse.
We welcome all marginalized identities. This Mastodon instance is generally for folks who are LGBTQIA+ and Allies with an interest in tech work, academics, or technology in general.

current project: the easiest way to describe it would be "Reddit/dating app crossover" but that makes it sound like the worst idea ever lmao.
basically, post in topics you're interested in and you can choose to only see posts from people nearby you (or to only have your posts be seen by people based on location). the goal is to make local friends based on common interests. it probably wouldn't work because it would need a lot of people, but figure I might as well make the site and see if it can be of *some* use.
will be bookmarking this post so I can add updates here.

I will also be posting about it on Patreon as I go (see public post about it here: patreon.com/posts/79028258 ) for the record
I know I don't have an excellent track record of doing that, but I already have stuff to post so

I may want to end up doing the server in Rust instead of node.js, but I'm not sure yet.
it definitely has many advantages over node, but the disadvantage is my skill level lol

Public

okay I think the action plan is to continue to develop it in node while simultaneously learning more Rust, and once I've made a Rust version I'll just bring it down for a bit to replace it

using km no matter where the person is because I'm lazy and Americans can suck it
