Amazon recently announced that beginning in August 2022 it will no longer accept Mobi ebooks through its Send-to-Kindle service. 📨
Instead, it will support ePub ebook files sent to its Kindle device and apps through the service.
Since people always seem to forget how much of Evil Dead 2 is a recap of The Evil Dead ("most of it", "half of it", "first act", etc.) I'm putting actual numbers in here:
The title card is at 1:20
Recreation of ED1 ending: 7:08
Total recap length: 6 minutes, 12 seconds or 7% of the film

If you have other options, don't buy Starlink. If that's your only viable option, please tell them, as a customer, that you care about keeping Low Earth Orbit safe for use for the future, and that you care about dark night skies.
There is a LOT more that these fantastically talented engineers could be doing to make the satellites darker and to use fewer of them to provide service. But they will only do that if it's a priority for their employer.
Here's a fun, non-Chronicles blog post I wrote for the folks at Zip2Tax. #Apple had a bug in its retail POS software. This led to a sales tax dispute with the State of New York. Apple was clearly in the wrong but rather than admit error it spent 10 years litigating the issue--and lost at every single stage.
slower computers, please
I'm a computer guy, but I'm very much over fast computers. Most of your computer's resources are wasted loading ads and trackers on webpages. Video games require more and more power to deliver less interesting experiences. Don't get me started on cryptocurrency. Computers are getting increasingly complex, therefore less reliable, nearly impossible to repair, wasteful, and devastating to the environment. We need #slowcomputers and more #retrocomputing
I'm of the firm belief that our species' brains are not equipped to handle the constant ambient awareness brought on by the "smart" phone and the real-time social media it's enabled.
Someday, maybe. But not now!
Today's post from The Haul... Microsoft Flight Simulator 4.0 for Mac!
Immaculate condition, again, though the disks seem missing. Can't say I'm too irked as I usually care more about manuals than disks (getting disk images of 99% of things is easy). Plus, it was free.
Love the moderately chonky manual, though I find it interesting that the glide slope indicator the manual trains you on isn't PAPI. I'm so used to modern sims using it exclusively.
