The thing I dislike the most about birdsite isn't the community, it's being forced to see news, depressing news at that, makes my depression and anxiety just spike to unreasonable levels.

@hanna Same, it took me a long time to realize just how close my physical health was tied to my mental health, and how much of a negative effect the Algorithm™️ had on it.

@hanna I ended up blocking all the trending and recommendations stuff with uBlock just to make it bearable. Also changed my trends location to Aruba so most of the time the only trending topic was "Aruba" on mobile. Really hate how much of the site you have to use third-party tools to get rid of though, just to make it bearable...
