i was literally just thinking the other day "you know, it would be cool if github supported mastodon profile link verification" and what do you know, it actually does!

and yet this still isn't going to get me to actually maintain my repos

@mickwheelz since github adds rel="nofollow me" to your profile link (the latter of which mastodon looks for), you can just link your profile there and it'll work

unfortunately this doesn't work for links in because those just get rel="nofollow"

not sure if this is an intentional design choice (i know very little about html properties like this), but it does work!

@mickwheelz another protip, i found you have to go into profile settings and click “save changes” again to get mastodon to scan the page again before the checkmark shows up
