at the point with KDE where I don't know where any of the config files are so I'm just copying my entire home directory to my new distro and hoping it picks up what I need it to

update: this was a mistake! it works for lots of things but it also caused my user icon to vanish and my firefox profile to get duplicated and also the plasma versions of the two installs don't match up so none of my custom color schemes look good anyway
