Art doesn't need to be good. Or unique. Or special. It's ok to do art that has been done before. Your art, whatever medium, doesn't need to earn its right to exist. It is an expression of your breath and life and like you, its right to exist cannot be taken away.

@enby one of my fave comics of all time: https://twitter.com/pixelameart/status/1429845976928464908

@enby Yes! The creative impulse is a basic need. People used to view art as a thing to do and share, rather than be passively consumed. I attribute a lot of the seductiveness of consumerism to the cultural change that says it's only for professionals to do. People keep trying to fill an emptiness in themselves, and no one says making rather than buying is what's missing. Do art.. be happy.

@enby @monsterblue The way I've heard it put is: yes, someone may well have made that before. But no one has made *your* work before, and you *definitely* haven't.

@enby definitely needed to hear this about my writing. I'm always afraid that any idea I come up with will have already been done before *and* have a huge following, then I'll be accused of copying/plagiarism by a rabid group of fans...

@enby I was just thinking of that this morning, so this is timely. Mainly just that I was thinking that I should spend some time working on music again but also wondering what I have to say that hasn't been said before. This is a good vote toward doing it for me anyway.
