@[email protected] Me: "Mastodon is great because people with incompatible boundary concepts can federate with compatible servers and not be forced to deal with pointless arguments about it!"

Frog Avatar: "ACTUALLY, @[email protected] banned this person I know, so they don't believe in free speech."

I think the internet is breaking up again and moving back towards the way it was in the mid-00s and I have several observations about this I'm going to dump in a thread.

The TL;DR is that grassroots internet use is both good and will create all kinds of fun new social problems.

I wrote an article about some common misconceptions around Mastodon and the Fediverse in general. I hear these misconceptions so often that I think the record needs to be set straight.

YouTube needs to stop suggesting that I switch to YouTube Kids when I watch things like Steven Universe clips. You're making this weird for both of us.

This is what happens when your priorities as a publisher diverge from your platform. Demand open source. twitter.com/aisajib/status/114

Saw on reddit and had to share. If your site is bad enough to not allow pasting, it's also not worth manually typing my randomly generated 50 character password into.

@andre Thanks for the follow! If I ever stop running an instance clearly I need to join snouts

It seems rather foolish and annoying to have links to login/register pages on your site open in new tabs. Why would I want a logged out version of the page still open if I'm interacting with the site?

I need a little bit of help to deal with some bills and take care of myself and my work. But you can help me by getting some of my games for cheap!

question: Is it OK to put a URL in an image alt tag, as part of the description? Basically the image is a screenshot of tweets and the original link has the full text of the thread. Alternative of just linking to the thread or embedding it is not ideal.

AFTER EIGHT GENERATIONS, IT FINALLY BECOMES CLEAR WHY HUMANS OF THE POKEMON UNIVERSE EAT FARFETCH'D

IT'S BECAUSE IF WE ALLOWED THEM TO LIVE LONG ENOUGH, THE FARFETCH'D WOULD BE EATING US INSTEAD
