This 1881 map is an amazing work that shows the travel time from London to... everywhere. Not only is it one of the first isochronic maps (marking distances that could be traveled in the same time) but it drew on steamship tables, post office records, and private voyage records.

@david huh ... Notice that New Zealand North Island at 30 days and South Island 40 days? The ferry from Wellington to Picton can still get pretty hairy in rough weather, but modern ships fare better in the 300kph currents know to surround the islands. I'm also guessing the north was settled and populated first (would make since since the larger cities are Wellington, Auckland and Hamilton)
