I am reading an April 2017 article about why Mastodon will fail. Spoiler: it’s because it’s “not true federation”, since instances can block other instances. Also, portable identities, AKA getting your Twitter friends to use Mastodon.

So it’s Mastodon’s fault that platforms like Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, etc are walled gardens. While pointing out that identities are portable out of the box on Mastodon with a simple interface.

Oh also it’s too expensive. But the article only refers to other people hosting instances that you join until they ban you for one of your friends invariably breaking a ToS or CoC. So basically this guy is mad that he can’t freely and easily be a dick.
