gender, gender neutral pronouns

If it's not too difficult in your language, consider using gender neutral pronouns (such as they/them) by default for people you don't know or who haven't told you their pronouns, even if they look like a stereotypical "girl" or "guy"!

I was watching a video where a person was going through creations their fans sent them, and they used gender neutral terms and pronouns for all of the people who's creations they showcased. With every video of this type they release, they get many comments thanking them for use of gender neutral pronouns! There have been people who looked like "girls" but weren't and so on who were very thankful, as well as trans people not included in the video that felt more confident and accepted as a result of someone being more inclusive and respectful. You can't tell someone's gender by the way they look, and you can't assume that everyone you meet who's not androgynous is cis :)

Is there, somewhere on the net, a queer women-focused radio station? I'd love to be listening to sweet WLW ballads and queer femmes in general. ^_^

#Android question: What's the best way to micromanage volume levels?

For example: I want to listen to podcasts without being interrupted by notifications, or keep notifications low so that they don't blow my ears out when I crank up the system volume for a quiet podcast.

Insomnia plus doge allergies (the dog's allergies, not mine) equals bleh.

The amount of caffeine it would take to flip my groggy bit back to normal would probably be lethal.

Nevertheless, I'm trying.

A long exposure night shot from our few days away in the desert (Prince Albert, Klein Karoo, Western Cape, South Africa). I'd had a loooong-ass day and was suffering from a sinus headache so I couldn't be bothered moving from the stoep of the cottage, and just shot whatever was in frame from that vantage point XD

Yay. I broke my phone even more by replacing the screen!

I had to order another replacement part, but on the other hand, hey, the screen works great.

My device even has a "removable" battery, if I don't mind wiggling the phone case carefully off so I can slide the tape-encased shattered back out.

I'd consider swapping boards with a locked phone that's in decent shape, so I keep my ROM, but I fear I'll end up with one fewer phone if I keep this up...

seriously, this only helps harassers, no one else, and it is entirely at the expense of those who are getting harassed.

This sort of thing is why I keep arguing that mastodon shouldn't get credit for being 'anti-harassment', the lead dev is actively working against it.

And yes, it is specifically @Gargron, the pull request for this was by him.

It is like watching a race to the bottom in terms of being terrible about anti-harassment features.

I suspect that @Gargron has just given up on any sort of anti-harassment for mastodon.

The newest release candidate has an update that will let people know they are blocked when they view a profile.

This is fucking basic shit, you don't let harassers know if they are having an effect, or if they are being heard or not. Why the fuck should someone I block get to know I blocked them? It just means they know 1) They had some effect and 2) The need to find a new channel for harassment.

My experience with being a girl was like this.

Imagine you're born wearing an invisible mask. You naturally assume everyone else is wearing a mask, too.

Every time someone tells you how to act or how to be you add some paint to the mask. The mask getting heavier each time.

Eventually, 2 weeks ago for me, the mask starts suffocating you. You start drowning. It's literally killing you. But you don't know it's the mask doing it because the mask was always there.

After breaking down completely, and still not being sure why, you take off the mask.
And then, the next moment, I was trans.
