I want to love Ruby, I really do, but the prevalence of monkey patching, combined with most documentation being of the ‘big list o’ symbols with one sentence descriptions if you’re lucky’ variety, makes me feel as though I’m trying to build and learn on quicksand
@eritbh it’s that feeling that you can make progress if you flail around enough, but the moment you get past a certain point it all starts to sink and fall apart, because you’ve not been able to grasp the ‘why’ properly
