overstimulation is just DDoS for autistic people
@selfisekai This is something a lot of people not in the spectrum fail to grasp.
There was a video on reddit, where an obviously autistic person starts shouting 'SHUT UP SHUT UP SHUT UP' to a crying baby.
The comments were just what you expect them to be. I found it interesting how quickly people piled on this 'moron' who obviously 'didn't know that babies cry' and whatever. Some suggested that maybe it was an autistic person, which was always countered with 'maybe they should grow up' or 'deal with it'.
And this pretty much sums up the stories I've heard from people on the spectrum.
It was once described me as normal people having a glass of water being poured on them and saying it's easy to drink from a waterfall, when the autistic people had to drink from an actual waterfall.
@aamurusko79 @selfisekai it was only after having a baby did I start to realize the extent of my audio processing issues (possibly ASD, or just good old fashioned hearing damage). There were nights I came bursting into the bedroom to be rescued by my wife because I couldn’t get the baby to stop crying and became massively overwhelmed myself.
@aamurusko79 @selfisekai Even now, with a toddler at 1.5 years old they randomly shriek for basically no reason and it can wind me up really bad. So on my (or the toddler’s) bad days I basically have to leave my loops (pro grade ear plugs) in basically all day. They do help massively and cut down my emotional reactions to a much more manageable level. They’re just rather uncomfortable and ramp up all my gross and weird body noises.

I love my Loops. I hate speaking with them in. Or eating.

I relate to wanting to scream shut up at babies. Its mean, which is why I stay away from babies.
They are horrid over stim in every single category except... I guess they don't glow, so they got that going for them I guess.
