I'm curious. When you eat at a restaurant booth, do you prefer to sit in the corner? Also, are you on the autism spectrum? I am, and I do.
So far, it seems like most people do like to sit in the corner. It also doesn't seem to differ much based on whether someone is on the spectrum. But we don't have too large a sample size yet, so we'll see.
One day left on my #poll above. My brother said most people like to sit in the corner of a restaurant booth. I was unsure. So he told me to make a poll, and I did. Looks like he was right about that. But I'm still curious about how much that aligns with being on the autism spectrum, because of sensory reasons. That's why I separated the poll that way.
Wow, 67 votes, thanks y'all! This was a fun experiment. What we have learned: most people do prefer to sit in the corner of they don't have a specific reason not to. About 2/3 of non-autistic people prefer the corner, and about 3/4 of autistic people. That's not a huge difference and the numbers are too small for actual conclusions, but it could still be plausible that it makes some difference whether you're on the spectrum. From the replies, I noticed people gave diverse reasons for where they would prefer to sit. If I did another poll on the topic, I would probably separate the responses by the reasons to choose different seats.
