> A pinned post on the AirPods Max subreddit, meanwhile, explains “most hardware issues originate from condensation issues,” then adds that this can lead to “AirPods turning off randomly, refusing to connect, refusing to play audio, needing restarts and factory resets to work, losing audio quality,” and a few other problems.

Are you fucking kidding me

These are exactly the problems I've been having with my own pair, and the 3 replacements I've gotten after.

Now that I know it's not a "bad batch", I'm gonna switch to something else

404 Media · ‘Condensation Death' Is Breaking $550 AirPods Max and Driving Users NutsApple's lawyers argued that an angry customer "omits details" about a so-called "walk" where condensation built up in his AirPods Max, and that moisture in the company's flagship headphones is simply "more noticeable" than in competitors' models.

@ShadowJonathan At that price? Condensation? Really?

Quiet public

@hertog I've experienced it myself, but I've also experienced these things dying after a month of heavy use

It's not noticeable to me, but if it contributed to these things constantly dying, I'm getting really done with them, tbh

Quiet public

@ShadowJonathan wtf (I have nothing but another unsolicited recommendation of the repeat audio headsets and a good luck)

@jeder 3

This is my 4th

Every time I went to AMac, which sent it to Apple, and Apple sent a free replacement back, 4 times

When I came back a 3rd time they basically called a team meeting to look at the issue at the service bar (very good service tbh), discussing and asking me how long this problem has been going on, and then going their way and doing another replacement

Maybe I'm the only one to really come to amac for this, but fucking hell, at least the replacements have been completely free

Quiet public

@ShadowJonathan@tech.lgbt jesus fucking christ, i'd probably just bail after second pair and something else

Quiet public

@jeder I would too, but ANC is way too magic

Quiet public

@ShadowJonathan@tech.lgbt eh i mean there's still like sony and bose

Public

@ShadowJonathan May I recommend taking a look at Valco then? Had my VMK20 from them for over 3 years and they survived a lot. And while I did send them in a few times for repair, this was either covered by warranty (2yrs) or at 50€ per repair once warranty period was over (which they'll do as long as at least half of the parts are still usable)

Edit: Plus they're Finnish and customer communication is probably the best I've ever seen

Public

@ShadowJonathan@tech.lgbt and i thought i got a short stick with my moondrop aria doing that, holy shit :/
how do you even manage to make full sized headphones collect condensate

Quiet public

@ShadowJonathan Can recommend the Sony ANC headphones, the name of the current gen is WH-1000XM5.
Terrible name, but Sony is pretty good at their ANC game.

Public

@ShadowJonathan oh no they had California brain while designing it

@ShadowJonathan Every time I wear my tech gear in the rainforest or jungle they break!
