@Lydie I'd be curious to know whether you sometimes come across GPIO ISA boards ... I once programmed such a device that actually featured 3 regular intel I/O drivers (the kind that control the A20 gate) and 1 regular PIT (was that the 8253 ? ... nah. 8253 must have been the DMA controller. 8257, maybe ?)
