"When someone shows you who they are, believe them the first time."

(1 of 3) Let's talk about #EmotionalIntelligence : It's not just a buzzword; It's key to understanding yourself and your interactions.
Emotional Intelligence is your ability to recognize, understand, and manage your own emotions. It's about being aware, being present, and being mindful in your relationships.
And speaking of relationships, let's dive into some real talk about friendships. It's Friend Friday, and I'm sharing how my connections impact my energy.
First up, the "Broadcaster." You know the type. They constantly blast information, rarely pausing for a breath. It's nice to share, but sometimes, you just want to be seen or to be asked, "How are YOU doing?" instead of just being a witness to their endless monologue. It's about connection, not just transmission.
(2 of 3) Then there's the "Ranter." This friend likes to rant about the economic state of the world, and/or politics. I've personally filtered out "USPOL" on my Fedi feed. This aligns with topics I've consciously filtered out of my life. I don't watch the news for a reason because my peace is important. To protect that peace, I had to set a boundary. I asked them to stop. It wasn't easy, but it was necessary.
Why does this matter? Because your energy is valuable. Your peace is essential. And, like me, you have the right to protect it.
Here are Actionable Tips to Protect Your Peace of Mind:
1. Set Clear Boundaries: Know what you will and won't tolerate
2. Communicate Directly: Don't be afraid to voice your needs
3. Prioritize Your Well-being: Your mental health is important
4. Filter Your Inputs: Control what you consume
5. Surround Yourself with Positive Energy: Choose your tribe wisely
(3 of 3) Your #relationships should uplift you, not drain you. Choose connections that nourish your soul.
You can be #assertive and #kind simultaneously when you address concerns like these.
A considerate and Emotionally Intelligent friend will respect and understand you (they may not agree with you) and they will try their best to accommodate!
I want to hear from you. How are you protecting your peace? What boundaries have you set? Share your wisdom in the comments! Let’s create a community of empowered individuals.
