I've actually only played one of the games, and I don't remember which one, I just remember a glorious pile of cheese.

@68000@llanion EDF is still great, and still cheesy. EDF5 is the current release in the west, and is an amazing game. 6 is out in Japan. I imported a copy, and it's also a ton of fun.
